Frequently Asked Questions
-
Protecting your items during transit is crucial to avoid damage. Here are some packing suggestions:
Utilize original boxes for electronics to ensure a proper fit and use original packing materials for added protection. Use plastic wrap, towels, blankets, newspapers, or clothes to pack fragile items like picture frames or mugs. Ensure items inside boxes are securely packed to prevent movement during transit, using clothing, towels, blankets, or crumpled newspaper to fill open spaces.
Please refrain from storing the following items with Mountain Movers, as they are not insured against loss or damage:
Jewelry, coins, cash, and collectibles. Items of intangible or intrinsic value. Improperly packed items, including unwrapped furniture. Food items and liquids.
To evenly distribute weight and prevent strain on boxes and our team, consider the following:
Separate heavy items into multiple boxes to avoid over-stressing. Mix books with lighter items like sweaters and bedding. Place heavier objects closer to the center of the box to minimize the risk of damage. Boxes weighing over 70 pounds may incur additional fees, so thoughtful packing can save you money while reducing the risk of damage.

Beds/Futons
Remove all bedding and fully encase the mattress in a mattress bag. If possible, position it upright on its side for easier transportation. All furniture items must be broken down and prepared for storage before movers arrive on the day of their pickup.
Rugs
Make sure your rug is tightly rolled and securely fastened for safe transport.
Lamps
For added protection, place lamps in a box or container and cushion them with bubble wrap or soft materials, such as clothing, to prevent jostling and breakage.
Luggage, Trunks, Containers
We recommend filling any containers with your other belongings. Winter coats and sweaters, and blankets are a few suggestions. -
Computers & Monitors
First cover your items with a cover or seal in a computer bag for protection from dust and scratching, then wrap securely with bubble wrap.
TV's
If available, use the original box for your TV. Otherwise, ensure to encase the screen with paper and bubble wrap to provide protection during transit.
Fridge
Empty your fridge of all items and thoroughly wipe out any food residues. Unplug the fridge and leave the doors open at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled move-out date. This is to ensure it has completely defrosted and won't mold and leak water onto other items.
Microwave
Thoroughly wipe out any food residue. Remove the glass tray inside your microwave and pack it securely in one of your boxes. Use a blanket, towel, or bubble wrap to protect it. Pack into a box. -
What's Provided?
We provide four 18x24'' boxes, a roll of tape, and bubble wrap so you can pack your things securely.
Can I use my own boxes?
Yes. Please label them with your name and contact information.
Can I use trash bags/other materials?
We don't advise using fragile containers like trash bags as they easily snag and tear. Pack as many things as possible in the boxes and bins.
